FAQ: Why does the output current of my 6670 series overshoot the current limit setting when I apply a short?

This is normal behavior for the 6670 series. These power supplies are optimized for CV Mode (Constant Voltage Mode) of operation and as such, they have a large output capacitors. When you short the output of these capacitors, they will immediately supply a large current to the load. It takes some time for the CC Mode loop to take over control of the power supply.
